Identified the essential features of the proposed computational solution explaining these choices [1].

Here you start to shape the design of the product you will later create. What features have you identified that are essential for your product? What makes them essential?

There is no correct number of essential features. Your essential features might be informed by your stakeholder research and product research. Your essential features should be sufficient to inform the design of a realistic version of your idea.

For larger projects, you may want to split your list of essential features in two: one list of the core essential features and another list of desirable features [1].

Presenting your essential features in a table can make it easier for you to show the different criteria of the higher mark bands, including the identification and explanation/justification. You do not need to copy/paste evidence used for any justifications—referring to page numbers or linking back to the evidence can save rewriting [1].

Numbering your essential features can be helpful to quickly reference them later.
