## General advice
- Always write workings, even if the question doesn't give space for them.
- You do not need to—and should not waste time—writing in full sentences that repeat the wording of the question. It gains you 0 marks.
- If you need more paper, ask for it.
- Cross out incorrect answers with a single line.
## 1
Generally good. Some confusion about converting 2000 terabytes: several people ticked gigabytes, which is nonsensical as gigabytes are smaller than terabytes.
## 2
Binary was generally good.
Denary had a couple of odd responses: 112 was common. I am unsure how this answer was reached, as people who wrote this answer generally didn't include workings.
Hex was generally good.
Where students wrote down workings, full marks were generally obtained. Write your workings even if the question doesn't give space for them!

Generally good. Even when wrong final answers were given, credit was given for showing the right carries. Show your workings!
### b

The question asks about computational thinking. Computational thinking always means one of three things at GCSE:
- decomposition;
- abstraction; and
- algorithmic thinking.
Just writing two of these words would get you two marks. The remaining two marks could be gained by writing a brief definition of what your chosen words mean—even better if related to the scenario in some way.
### b.i
A 'real' data type has nothing to do with data that is legitimate. What we call 'floats,' OCR calls 'reals.' A real is any number (not 'data') with a decimal point. E.g., `6.0`, `6.7`.
### b.iii
A whole number.
### c.i
In the first box, the name 'count' is established. Stick to this name. Do not try outputting things that are not named, e.g., 'value.'
Remember to draw arrows as these show the sequence of operations. Lines do not show sequence.
## 6
'Video' is NE for output. 'The video being watched' or similar is the level of detail required.

Please read the question.
The question identifies three inputs:
- student status;
- discount card; and
- day.
So these need to be input somehow (using a parallelogram). It's fine to combine the inputs into one parallelogram, but you need to have them all to get the input mark.
Some people just ignored the Saturday condition which locked them out of three marks (I feel this is harsh, but it's what the mark scheme says).
Make sure that all of your shapes have an output arrow going somewhere.
You should only have one 'end' shape.
A few people wrote conditions about 'age'. Age is not mentioned anywhere in the question. Read the question!
### b.i
Good.
### b.ii
Poor. This is a core phrase you need to learn (and should be in your notes).
> [!quote] Truth table purpose
> A truth table shows all the **possible** inputs and all their **corresponding** outputs
The words in bold are vital for this description's accuracy.
### b.iii
Poor.
The formula is $2^n$: $2^3 = 8$.
